Facilities Use Policy
October 1999
The Huston Brumbaugh Nature Center is a part of the Brumbaugh Center for Environmental Science. The Center belongs to Mount Union College and is under the administrative jurisdiction of the Biology Department.

The mission of the Brumbaugh Center is:

-to support and enhance the education of all students attending Mount Union College, emphasizing the general areas of ecology and environmental science

- to provide a resource in environmental education for public, private and parochial schools and other organized youth groups, including field trips and teacher/leader enhancement programs

-to promote an interest and awareness of environmental and ecological topics among the public
 

Use of the facilities at the Center should be in support of this mission.

Trails are open to the general public during daylight hours.

Building use is subject to the following policies:

Groups intending to use trails only should make reservations to assure ample parking and minimal interference with other programs

FOR GROUPS AFFILIATED WITH MOUNT UNION COLLEGE

1. First priority for use is for classes at Mount Union College.

2. Second priority is for environmental education programs provided by or supervised by MUC staff or volunteers.

3. Third priority is for other MUC organizations.
 

FOR GROUPS NOT AFFILIATED WITH MOUNT UNION COLLEGE:

Priority is given to:

1. Groups that schedule an environmental education program in which one of our staff or trained volunteers is conducting the program.

2. Groups that use the building for environmental programs that are not led by our personnel but which have been reviewed and approved as having significant environmental content and for which participants are not charged or for which the charge is limited to actual cost of the program (The facilities are not available for profit making activities).

Groups that wish to charge for programs, except as outlined above, will not be accommodated. Groups will not be accommodated for purposes other than environmental education.
