Astronomy: A Survey is an introduction to the amazing wonders of the universe.  There are no prerequisites for the course.  We will use some math, but we will review it first!  The majority of you will not become scientists, so the majority of the class is conceptual.  The goals are to:
  • Obtain a broad base of knowledge in astronomy
  • Generate understanding of the laws of nature
  • Explore our place in the physical universe
  • Understand how we study the universe, and develop some skills of scientific inquiry

The texts for the course are 21st Century Astronomy by Hester et al and Lecture-Tutorials for Introductory Astronomy by Adams et al.
Always bring your text, lab pages, notebook, & calculator to labRemember to dress warmly!
