LEE MALCOLM GRAY
Professor of Geology
Mount Union College

Born and raised in upstate New York where he attended Guilderland Central High School, Lee Gray received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University in 1974 and his MS and Ph.D. in paleontology from the University of Rochester (1976; 1985). From 1977 -1980 he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malaysia where he taught geology at the National University of Malaysia. He began teaching at Mount Union in the fall of 1984. Currently, he serves as Geology Department chair.

The picture at the left was taken by Bill Gough, a Mount Union geology alum on a recent historical geology field trip to West Virginia.

An avid traveler, Gray likes to explore the geology of distant territories, particularly tropical regions with sandy beaches. Recent excursions have taken him to southern California, Newfoundland, and the Bahamas. In August of 1997, after much cajoling, Gray accompanied his brother on a trip up Mount Olympus.
